Intelligent Battlefield Systems

The need to keep pace with rapidly changing requirements is ever-present. Today’s network centric battlefield presents a host of new challenges for our warfighters and defense manufacturers as well. Textron Defense Systems has developed a network of sensors and munitions that provides the soldier with the capability to detect and engage threat vehicles and threat personnel while keeping fellow soldiers and friendly forces out of harms way and minimizing noncombatant casualties.

Our Intelligent Munitions System (IMS) is the only wide-area, top-attack ground-based solution that delivers such a high level of target effectiveness. It is the culmination of work completed on a variety of programs and concepts over the years at Textron Defense Systems.

Gathering, analyzing and distributing operational tactical and strategic military information is the job of our Tactical and Urban Unattended Ground Sensors (T-UGS; U-UGS). Textron Defense Systems is the sole UGS provider to the U.S. Army’s revolutionary Future Combat Systems (FCS) program.

Both IMS and FCS leverage the best of what has been developed for programs such as the Sensor Fuzed Weapon (SFW), smart Skeet, and Spider, and is found in other IBS programs such as Terrain Commander 2, AADS, and TRS-SA.
