Common Smart Submunition (CSS)

Defense Systems' CSS is a next-generation, multi-platform
smart submunition. The CSS is capable of providing precision
attack to a number of moving and fixed targets by using
a dual-mode passive sensor and a Samara Wing. These features
enable the CSS to detect, engage and defeat threats ranging
from soft skinned vehicles through heavy armored battle
tanks.
Designed for deployment from
155mm artillery, rockets, lethal Unmanned Air Vehicles
(UAV's) and loitering weapons, the CSS will provide
the same lethality delivered by BLU-108 but with an
ability to discriminate among potential targets within
its search area. Its lightweight design and flexible
deployment mechanism make the CSS compatible with a
number of weapons systems and aircraft.
