Textron Defense Systems' Unattended Ground
Sensors (UGS) is a core U.S. Army Brigade Combat Team
Modernization program that uses advanced communications
and technologies to link soldiers with both manned and
unmanned platforms and sensors. This system of sensors
is capable of detecting, classifying, locating, and
tracking vehicles, personnel, and aircraft in both rural
and urban environments
For urban initiatives, Urban-Unattended Ground Sensors
(U-UGS) can be used as a surveillance tool during the
clearing operations of buildings, caves, sewers, tunnels,
and other confined spaces. Textron Defense Systems,
in collaboration with Honeywell, designed these wireless,
hand emplaced system of sensors to be lightweight and
low cost. The U-UGS network will capture field-of-view
images of intruders in all light conditions and transmit
images to the BCTM Network where immediate recognition
of human intruders can be achieved.
